South African Trip and Demo Days

27 03 2008

Hi everyone

I have been back for a week now from a wonderful trip to South Africa. My golf clubs had an extended flight. They were sent off to Guatemala from Zurich by mistake, then had to be flown to Johannesburg and then onto George Airport, eventually arriving a day before the rest of the group joined me. I am claiming the miles they traveled! We spent the 1st 6 nights staying in Fancourt and played 3 of the 4 courses there, as well as Pezula, Simola and George Country Club. I can highly recommend that if you ever get the chance that you play all these courses. Needless to say the pace was hectic but well worth the effort. Should anyone be interested in staying at Fancourt please do not hesitate to contact me so that I may arrange it for you.
We then drove to Cape Town and stayed in a B&B called Cape Pillars which was also pleasant. Beware of the dogs though! From this base we played at Pearl Valley, Arabella, De Zalze, Erinvale, and Durbanville. We took it easy one day and spent time on Clifton Beach working on our tans. Once again I can highly recommend all these golf courses but found Pearl Valley very overpriced! One other concern is do not play there when the wind is blowing, it makes it a very tough course to play. Considering the winning score for the last South African Open was only 4 under after 4 days, shooting 104 medal/stroke play is not something I like to admit to, but that’s what my score was! We will be putting up the photos just as soon as we get a chance.

Moving onto the new season I start with Callaway Demo Days  this weekend. I am looking forward to the challenge and the fun that I think it should be. There is a demo day schedule that you can check and come along to one to say hi and try out the latest and greatest from Callaway Golf. As well as this I will be working at the new indoor golf range on Tuesday and Thursday evenings doing club fitting and some coaching. Should you wish to book a time with me there please contact me or and they will book a time for you.

That’s all I have time for now.

Once again cheers and happy golfing.
